Drinks: nearly all gluten free
- All brewed coffees, espresso, americano, cold brew, nitro
- Lattes, cappuccinos, macchiatos — any milk (oat milk is from certified GF oats)
- Refreshers (Mango Dragonfruit, Strawberry Açaí, etc.) — all gluten free
- Hot chocolate
- Standard syrups — vanilla, caramel, hazelnut, toffee nut, cinnamon dolce, peppermint, brown sugar, blonde, etc.
- Most Frappuccinos — coffee Frapp, mocha Frapp, caramel Frapp
Drinks to avoid
- Java Chip Frappuccino — contains wheat in the chocolate chips
- Mocha Cookie Crumble Frappuccino — cookie crumb topping
- Caramel Ribbon Crunch Frappuccino — caramel crunch topping contains wheat
- Pumpkin Spice Latte topped with PSL topping (the topping is GF, but verify)
Bakery: most items are NOT gluten free
Skip: croissants, bagels, cake pops, scones, muffins, pound cakes, cookies, donuts, breakfast sandwiches.
What IS gluten free in the U.S. bakery case
- Marshmallow Dream Bar — explicitly GF certified
- Seasonal Chickpea Bites — when available
- Hippeas Vegan White Cheddar puffs (some stores)
- Squirrel Brand Honey Roasted Cashews
- KIND bars (most flavors)
- Justin’s Almond Butter packets
- Most yogurts and protein boxes — verify each ingredient
Breakfast sandwiches and lunch
All breakfast sandwiches contain wheat bread or English muffin — none are GF. The Egg Bites (Sous Vide Egg Bites) are gluten free except for the Roasted Pepper variety which contains roasted Italian-seasoned wheat-based sausage.
Cross-contact risk
Low to moderate. Starbucks uses prep tools that move between pastries. Drinks are made on dedicated bar equipment. Cleaning a steam wand between drinks doesn’t remove crumbs from a previous croissant prep — so prefer pre-packaged items and drinks.
